Country Woodsmoke blog "The Dirty Pork Burger was truly a work of art, all handmade ingredients on site, a brioche bun, loaded with a slice of black pudding, a pork and mustard burger, slices of air dried bacon, and a slice of duck liver. An oozy herb topped fried goose egg and some lovely roast beetroots finished the plate off. I was truly in my element with this, the flavour was immense, all the pork is local, and well reared, and Robin is truly passionate about what he does. A wonderful meal, and heartily recommended. I will definitely be returning.

Pork butchery, pie making, sausage and salami making and smoking meats and curing. We then cooked for 16 people on the evening for a Charity event for the Ottery Food Bank. Whole day was just brilliant. I learnt sooo much and it was very hands on. Robin is very easy going and lots of fun. It far excelled my expectations. " Trip Advisor Review "I'd heard good things about the Rusty Pig and was looking forward to something different. It's pretty much all in one room; kitchen, shop, restaurant. Two large benches for diners to share, friendly informal staff, and no menu as such, at least at lunchtime. A quick chat with the owner(?) resulted in an excellent meal of slow roast belly pork, and an interesting range of freshly cooked veg. All eaten off a tin plate with motley cutlery, and washed down by a pot of tea plus a mug. It's certainly different, and it works, mainly because the food is notably good, and the atmosphere somehow makes you feel "part of it".

Everything is fresh, he rears and produces all the pork, and sources everything else from trusted suppliers in the area. Having that hospitality, quality and intimacy, without the pretentions of the London food 'scene', is something which is simply very special. Devon is a powerhouse of British food revival and Robin certainly is at its heart, representing the very best of the best. Plenty of excellent places in the area, yet this is something apart.

The flavours of their sausages, hams, aspics and terrines left my taste buds doing the happy dance for at least an hour after we left. Since we live in the US we couldn't take advantage of any of their boxed offerings. I wholeheartedly recommend those who can to order one of their fresh and/or cured meat boxes to experience the remarkable quality of this team's work. You will not be disappointed!"
